Pitch Propeller (CPP)
For over three decades various ship types have been equipped with SCHAFFRAN hydraulically operated controllable pitch propellers (CPP) and shaft installations and are operated successfully. Through distinct variations in construction we are able to offer optimised CPP installations for motor yachts, sailing yachts, naval ships, patrol boats, governmental vessels, offshore supply vessels, various special purpose ships, coasters, passenger ships, as well as research vessels.
Our hydraulically operated CPP's are available in different sizes and shapes with and without feathering position, with 3, 4, or 5 blades. It is understood that the blade shape is individually adjusted for the best hydrodynamic fit to achieve a minimum in noise and vibrations as well as a maximum in efficiency. With our proven design we can set angles of 45°, with the compact series angles of up to 120° in the sailing position are feasible.
Our hydraulically operated controllable pitch propeller installations with sailing position are therefore highly suitable for big sailing yachts.
The hydraulic pressure needed to adjust the propeller blades is very low at roughly 25- 30 bar. This has a very positive influence on the live cycle of all seals. The robust one-piece hub design enables an effortless assembly and dismantling of the propeller blades. Additionally we are offering our proven CPP installation as changeover installation for push rod installations.
Shafts, bearings, seals etc. are scope of delivery as well as the compact hydraulic power unit, electrical cabinet and the remote control with operator panels for the different operator's stand / control room.
